Well earned break

At last a break from my hectic work schedule and an opportunity to spend time with my loved ones, chill out and get the trusty Nikon D80 out and take some photographs.

It’s been a while, and I have a lot to relearn.

Half the fun is just messing about – photographing anything and everything and looking at what works and what doesn’t.

I’ve never used Photoshop – but I’ve decided at 61 it’s about time I did and have just invested in a copy.

I also want to explore the use of different lenses and filters to see what can be achieved before any manipulation via software.

So here’s a view of Eilean Donan Castle very popular on Shortbread tins – if you have never visited – add it to your bucket list.
I was very pleased with the reflection and the underwater detail which would probably have been much easier to achieve with a polarising filter – perhaps my next purchase.

Hello world!

My first visit to WordPress.com! and my very first post.

Although I have blogged before, it was always work related and as retirement approaches I suddenly became aware that there is life outside work and perhaps others also share my love of nature, photography , steam trains, model railways, computers etc.etc

I’m going to try and post photographs on a fairly regular basis.  I’m relearning photography from my old SLR days and although I purchased a DSLR some years ago my mad workload has prevented me using it on a regular basis.

In an attempt tp reclaim my life, I am trying to dump my workaholic ways and engage fully with my family and my social interests.

Feel free to comment on my posts and in particular my photographs and on how they might be improved.

I’m keen to learn
